<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mixture of organic solvents for electrolyte of a lithium battery having a carbon anode to improve charging performance at low temperatures (-20 to -60°C) in comparison with existing lithium batteries, and to reduce polarization of its negative electrode when charging the lithium battery at low temperatures (for example, less than -20°C), in a solvent mixture of the lithium battery operating at low temperatures. <P>SOLUTION: The solvent mixture contains linear ester of C<SB>2</SB>to C<SB>8</SB>saturated acid of 50 to 90%, C<SB>3</SB>to C<SB>6</SB>saturated annular carbonate and C<SB>3</SB>to C<SB>6</SB>saturated linear carbonate of 5 to 50% in volume ratio to the solvent mixture, wherein only one of the two carbonates is substituted by at least one halogen atom. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
