<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of decomposing odorous gas produced at a fixing nip. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a fixing member for heating and fixing an unfixed toner image on a transfer material, a fixing device frame holding ambient air around the fixing member in a fixing device, and a photocatalyst with organic gas decomposing property at least in a part of the fixing device frame and inside thereof. Or the image forming apparatus has the fixing member for heating and fixing the unfixed toner image on the transfer material and has the photocatalyst having the organic gas decomposing property on a partition wall provided between a transfer material heating place of the fixing member and a paper discharge part, or the image forming apparatus uses a heater which emits visible light to a heat source of the fixing member to heat and fix toner and is provided with a member, which has the photocatalyst decomposing organic gas with the visible light, in the optical path of the visible light emitted by the heater. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
