<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas producer for an air bag with a simple structure and good restriction performance of an occupant. <P>SOLUTION: A total opening area of a first communication hole 17 and a second communication hole 18 between an ignition means chamber 20 and a first combustion chamber 31 and a second combustion chamber 32 is made different. Therefore, since a temporal flow-in amount of a combustion product generated in the ignition means chamber 20 is different, a temporal amount of gas generated from the two combustion chambers is different and an air bag is inflated at two stages.
