PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display device which reduces the cost of a heat dissipating structure for a driver IC. SOLUTION: In the plasma display device (PDP), a magnesium oxide layer is formed on a surface that is in contact with a discharge space in each display cell of the PDP, the magnesium oxide layer containing a magnesium oxide crystal that exits by exposure to electron beams and performs cathode luminescence having a peak within a wavelength range of 200 to 300 nm. A pixel data pulse generating circuit is built in split forms in a plurality of IC chips, the pulse generating circuit applying pixel data pulses corresponding to pixel data to rows of electrodes.
