PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an upward opening door device for an elevator capable of surely sealing a gap between the door device and an entrance and a gap between door panels with a sealing member, and capable of enhancing a smoke shielding function in an upward opening door device having a large door panel and having a driving system different from the one of a side opening door. SOLUTION: This upward opening door device for the elevator is provided with a door mechanism 15 having door panels 15a and 15b facing the entrance 5 of the elevator so as to be movable along the vertical direction and opening and closing the entrance 5 by the vertical movement, sealing members 31 and 32 for sealing the gap between the door panels 15a and 15b and the entrance 5 and the gap between the door panels 15a and 15b, and a sealing member 33 for sealing the gap between the door panel 15b and a doorsill 4 of the entrance 5. The sealing members 31 and 32 are attached on a front surface of the door panels 15a and 15b, and a protrusion 4a to which the sealing member 33 is abutted and adhered is formed on the doorsill 4.
