The separating device (5) has a guidance part (4) for the cutting wire (19) and at least two blades (16,17) that are enfolded and extend in the blade case along the seat rail (3). The cutting wire is strained between blade points. The blade formed is adaptable to the seat rail regarding their geometry to the free space (13) between the vehicle floor (4) and bottom part of the seat rail (2). An independent claim is also included for the method for separating the seat rail from the bottom of the vehicle.
