<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent powdering when solidifying high basicity slag with 1.3 or more CaO/SiO<SB>2</SB>into spherical particles. <P>SOLUTION: Molten slag with 60 mass% or less CaO, 5 mass% or more SiO<SB>2</SB>, and basicity (CaO/SiO<SB>2</SB>) of 1.3-6.0 is caused to vertically flow down, and waterdrops, and an air flow or an inactive gas flow are collided against the flowing down molten slag at the same time in the same position to obtain spherical particles.
