PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide roundish fused alumina particles having no cutting edges. SOLUTION: The invention is characterized in that fused alumina particles having a mean particle size of 5 to 4,000μm are shaped by means of a jet mill. Fused alumina particles are virtually formed of a single crystal and has high hardness. Thus, the so-called "pulverization" of alumina, in a jet mill, hardly occurs. When fused alumina particles are processed by means of a jet mill, the characteristic sharp cutting edges of fused alumina particles are broken through mutual collision between particles, and the roundish fused alumina particles can be produced. By incorporating the fused alumina produced in this way, a wear-resistant resin composition, a high-thermal-conductivity rubber composition, and a high-thermal-conductivity resin composition are produced.
