PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image editing device easily extracting desired still image data desired to be a photographic movie from a number of still image data. SOLUTION: A number of image files for storing still image data that become the materials of the photographic movie are stored in an HDD 18. Various information related to earnestness in the still image of a user is recorded in the tag region of each image file as metadata. A data recorder 30 reads the metadata of the still image data when the image file is read from the HDD 18, and updates the metadata. A significance calculator 32 calculates the significance of each still image on the basis of the information recorded in the metadata, and the calculated significance is recorded in the metadata. When the user instructs the generation of the photographic movie, a CPU 12 extracts the still images whose number has been specified in the order of significance. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
