PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator with a composition preventing narrowing of a housing space for food due to housing of a retractable shelf when using the refrigerator with the retractable shelf turned, raised, and put away to the side. SOLUTION: The refrigerator is composed of a guide horizontal part positioned in an intermediate part lower end and in the space, a guide slant face guiding the shelf from a normal position to the guide horizontal part, and the shelf having spindles sliding on the slant face guide slant face part, and the shelf is held in a shelf housing space part interior. When it is necessary to put away the shelf in a storing chamber rear, the shelf housing space part is used for housing.
