PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the inspection of the toothed faces of external teeth without disassembling a coupling case. SOLUTION: This gear coupling device 10 comprises the coupling case 1 having internal teeth 4, 5 and coupling centers 2, 3 provided therein and having external teeth 6, 7 to/from which the internal teeth 4, 5 are fitted/removed by sliding the coupling case 1 in the thrusting direction with clutch operation, the coupling case 1 having inspection ports 11, 12. The inspection ports 11, 12 are located where they directly face the toothed faces of the external teeth 6, 7 when sliding the coupling case 1 in the direction of disengaging the internal teeth 4, 5 from the external teeth 6, 7.
