PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling bearing unit for a wheel capable of preventing a magnet part from being cracked even under severe use conditions such as in an abrupt change of temperature or the magnet part from falling off a slinger and having a highly reliable magnetic encoder having a high magnetic characteristic and enabling accurate detection of rotational speed. SOLUTION: This rolling bearing unit for the wheel comprises an outer member, an inner member, a plurality of rolling elements circumferentially rollably disposed between the outer member and the inner member, and the magnetic encoder formed by integrating the magnet part formed of a plastic magnetic material and maltipole-magnetized in the circumferential direction with the slinger and fixed to the inner member. The magnet part is formed by insert-molding the plastic magnet material containing a thermoplastic resin binder and a 86 to 92 mass.% magnetic powder into the slinger, and chemically joined to the slinger with an adhesive agent causing hardening reaction gradually advancing according to the advancement of the insert-molding.
