PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage and retrieval device capable of improving storage efficiency and simplifying a structure of each part of the device to take in and out articles. SOLUTION: This storage and retrieval device 10 comprises a rack device 11 supporting the roll-shaped articles W and a loader 12 for taking in and out the articles W. Core materials 29 of the articles W or sleeves arranged inside them are equipped with front part extending parts 29A, 100A and rear part extending parts 29B, 100B projecting from the both end parts of the articles W, and these extending parts 29A, 100A, 29B, 100B are supported by the rack device 11. The loader 12 includes a transfer arm 34 provided inside the core materials 29 or the sleeves 100 so as to advance/retard, and an auxiliary arm 72 capable of supporting a front part supporting body 27 on which the front part extending parts 29A, 100A are placed. When the transfer arm 34 is inserted into the core materials 29 or the sleeves 100 to support the articles W, the auxiliary arm 72 supports the front part supporting body 27 and the articles W can be taken in and out with respect to the storing position of the rack device 11.
