PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white absorbent having improved absorbent properties to a liquid containing blood. SOLUTION: The absorbent comprises as a component an absorbent resin comprising a copolymer consisting of a vinyl polymer (A) having a carboxyl group and a double bond and having a number average molecular weight of 500-50,000, (meth)acrylic acid (B) and optionally a monomer having two or more ethylenically unsaturated bonds or a compound having two or more functional groups which react with the carboxyl group of (meth)acrylic acid (B).
