PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording device having an enhamced reliability without providing a defective recording element detecting means which induces the increase of costs. SOLUTION: This inkjet recording device discharges an ink by a thermal energy. In the inkjet recording device, parts having larger heater resistance values compared with other parts have a possibility for the deterioration at an early stage. Hence, such recording elements are discriminated at the time of a pre-shipment inspection of this recording head, and the information is stored in a non-volatile memory mounted on the recording head. The recording device main body reads the information when the recording head is installed, and if there is information, the discharging frequency of the recording element is reduced, and the discharging frequency of a recording element being under a complementary relationship is increased by that portion. Thus, the service lives of the recording elements having a higher possibility for the deterioration at an early stage are extended, and the reliability as the whole of the inkjet recording device is increased.
