PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide fragrance-bearing toilet sand for pet animal, sustainedly exhibiting deodorizing tendency for offensive odor such as of ammonia, particularly exerting high deodorizing ability for excretion, and also having hardening function owing to its water-swelling performance. SOLUTION: The toilet sand for pet animal comprises granules comprising a water-swelling clay mineral component and an opal component having an X-ray diffraction peak with an apex in the region of 2θ=21.5-22.5°and a half-width(2θ/°) of 0.40-0.80°, wherein fragrance is borne on the granules.
