PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to control landing of insect pests, which controls landing of flying insect pests on the body surface and eliminates unpleasantness by landing and a volatilization apparatus and to obtain a volatile preparation. SOLUTION: The method to control landing of insect pests comprises volatilizing an insecticide in a volatilization amount which is extremely smaller than that to develop knockdown activity or insecticidal activity and effective to control landing of insect pests and instantly volatilizing the insecticide by an air current at a normal temperature. The volatilization apparatus used for the method to control landing holds an insecticide on at least a part of a carrier to blow air by movement. The volatilization apparatus comprises, for example, a means for causing a current of air such as a round fan, a Japanese fan, etc., holding an insecticide on at least its part.
