<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow browsing of image data, of a image file, with a general-purpose viewer program, and to allow restoring RAW image data as well. <P>SOLUTION: CCD-RAW image data of 12 bits per one component are converted into the data of 8 bits per one component for irreversible coding which is JPEG Baseline coding. The coded data are decoded and the number of bit of each component is increased from 8 to 12 bits. A differential image data which are difference between the CCD-RAW image data and the image data acquired by decoding is encoded reversibly. An image coding data generator 115 generates one image data file in which reversibly coded data are inserted in an application data segment allowed to a file format of irreversibly coded data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
