PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which is excellent in a display dignity by suppressing the generation of an electric discharge. SOLUTION: The image display device includes a front substrate 1 in which a phosphor screen 5 is formed, and a vacuum enclosure 4 having back substrates 2 arranged oppositely at a gap on the front substrate. The image display device includes a metal back M including a plurality of dividing parts M1-M4 superposed on the phosphor screen 5, a plurality of first connecting resistors 21 and second connecting resistors 22, a common electrode 30 arranged on the outside of the metal back and electrically connected to the metal back through the first connecting resistor or the second connecting resistor, a power supply part 50 for supplying charge to the common electrode, and a limiting resistor 60 connected between the common electrode and the power supply part to limit the supply of the charge from the power supply part to the common electrode.
