PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording device which can reduce the level of a generated ink mist, even in case data are printed on a plurality of sheets running off the edge. SOLUTION: During printing data with the squeezed-out ink, (1) the expansion rate of a platen absorber in a part for receiving the ink discharged and run off the edge of a recording medium, is increased, compared with the other part, and the waste ink is rapidly transferred from a run off printing region by capillarity, and a drain sheet is made to retain the waste ink. (2) The platen absorber in the part for receiving the ink discharged and run off the recording medium, is stretched and fitted to a platen in the run off printing region, and shrunk and fitted to the platen in the other part. (3) The expansion rate is increased by changing a material of the platen absorber in the part for receiving the ink discharged and run off the recording medium, compared with the other part, and the waste ink is transferred from the run off printing region by capillarity, and the drain sheet is made to retain the waste ink.
