PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-quality paving finish by enabling a fine speed setting at the time of construction (forward moving side). SOLUTION: This speed-change operating device of a paving machine comprises a push-pull cable 16 mounted to an operation lever 15 and a control lever 14 with different respective ends connected to them, and transmits rotation of the operation lever 15 to the control lever 14 via the push-pull cable 16 to set the speed. In this device, an angleθ<SB>2</SB>, in which a line T<SB>1</SB>connecting a connection point (C<SB>2</SB>) for mounting the push-pull cable to the operation lever 15 with a rotary center (pivot 18) of the operation lever 15 crosses the push-pull cable 16 is made not to be a right angle, and a neutral position N<SB>3</SB>of the operation lever 15 is provided at a position for securing a movable range (rotation angleβ<SB>3</SB>)of the operation lever 15 to the forward position larger than a movable range (rotation angleβ<SB>4</SB>) to the backward position.
