PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle device, suitable for high-accuracy machining by avoiding the influence of thermal expansion. SOLUTION: Since the axial length▵1 of a static pressure bearing provided on the mounting surface 102h side of a holder HD to a flange 102a of a spindle 102 is shorter than the axial length▵2 of a static pressure bearing provided on the motor 104 side to the flange 102a, the distance from the flange 102a to the mounting surface 102h can be made shorter, whereby the influence of thermal expansion can be held down to the utmost.
