PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus by which a coated article having uniform coating film thickness in a coating width direction and little coating failure can be obtained even when coating work is done for a long period of time and in which a broad-width die coater, which is cleaned easily, is coated with a fluorocarbon resin and has≥1 m coating width, is used and to provide a method for manufacturing the die coater. SOLUTION: The die coater, which has a pocket part for spreading a coating liquid to the coating width direction, a coating liquid supply port for supplying the coating liquid to the pocket part and a slit part for discharging the coating liquid to a support from the pocket part and in which at least two bars are incorporated, is used in this coating apparatus. At least a part of the bar constituting the surface of the die coater to come into contact with the coating liquid is coated with the fluorocarbon resin. The bar is placed on the surface of a stand satisfying inequality (1): 0.9<B/A<1.1 (wherein A is the coefficient of expansion of the bar; B is the coefficient of the bar-placed surface of the stand), the coated fluorocarbon resin on the bar is roasted in a roasting furnace and the fluorocarbon resin-roasted bar is subjected to finish grinding work.
