PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cheap microcapsule, having many particles of suitable size, excellent in strength, compactness, water resistance, heat resistance and hotness-wetness resistance, and also possible to be produced in a short time. SOLUTION: The microcapsule is obtained by forming a wall film on the surface of an oily wick matter by a curing reaction of an initial condensate of melamine and formaldehyde in an emulsion liquid where the oily wick matter is emulsified to be dispersed in an acidic aqueous solution of an anionic polymer electrolyte, wherein the anionic polymer electrolyte is a water-soluble copolymer which is obtained by aqueous polymerization of an unsaturated monomer mixture consisting of (1) a polymeric unsaturated monomer (a) without any of a carboxyl group and a phosphate group, (2) a carboxylic-group containing polymeric unsaturated monomer (b) and (3) methacryloylpolyoxyethylene acid phosphate (c), etc. and the glass transition temperature of the water-soluble copolymer is 70°C or above.
