PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the stop on a flag other than the initial position, when position management is not performed, that is, the power is cut and a driving force is not transmitted. SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, as shown in Fig. 5, a pressure plate starts coming close to a feed roller from near 20°, and is completely brought into press-contact with the feed roller around 50°. The pressure plate starts coming off from the feed roller from around 100°, and is returned to a standard position of a paper sheet set position around 180°. A spring is attached to the pressure plate, and a force returning in an arrow direction acts in a section 501 and a section 502, so that the pressure plate is returned to the paper sheet set position when the power is cut in the arrow sections. A cam part is designed to form a flag in sections indicated by 501, 502, so that a mechanism part of a sheet carrying device does not stop in turned-on-state sections 503, 504 when the power is cut.
