A sunscreen apparatus for a car has a mounting rod for mounting proximate a windshield of a car. A sun blocking element is mounted to the rod for rotati on about a longitudinal axis of the rod and for sliding movement along the rod. The sun blocking element may have a hinged extension. As such the sun blocking element can be made small so as to improve the field of view of the driver as compared with a standard sunscreen.
