#CMT# #/CMT# The arrangement has a combustion chamber (22) connected to intake and exhaust ducts (24A, 24E) that open towards the exterior by respective intake and exhaust ports (26A, 26E). Flame arresters (30A, 30E) are arranged at outlets of the respective ports so that flame exits from the chamber via the ports and extinguishes before spreading outside a cylinder head (14). Gas flow areas of the arrestors are greater than that of the ports. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for arranging a flame arrester on an internal combustion engine e.g. diesel engine, of a motor vehicle (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The gas flow areas of the arrestors are greater than that of the intake and exhaust ports, thus permitting inlet and exhaust gas flows without head loss and reduction in speed, and hence optimal functioning of an internal combustion is ensured. The flame arresters can be fixed on all types of cylinder heads, without modifying the cylinder heads. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The drawing shows a sectional view of a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, equipped with a flame arrester. 14 : Cylinder head 22 : Combustion chamber 24A : Intake duct 24E : Exhaust duct 26A : Intake port 26E : Exhaust port 30A, 30E : Flame arrestors.
|
