PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixed type constant velocity universal joint with an outer ring and a stem joined together, having improved joining construction and method. SOLUTION: The fixed type constant velocity universal joint comprises the outer ring 10 formed in a cylindrical shape opening at both ends on the mouth side and the counter mouth side and having an inner spherical face 12 in which ball grooves 14 extending to the mouth side in the axial direction are formed at equal intervals in the circumferential direction and an end face 18 on the counter mouth side perpendicular to the axis, an inner ring 20 having an outer spherical face 22 in which ball grooves extending in the axial direction are formed at equal intervals in the circumferential direction, a plurality of torque transmitting balls 28 incorporated between each of the ball grooves 14 of the outer ring 10 and each of the ball grooves 24 of the inner ring 20 paired therewith, a cage 30 having pockets 32 laid between the inner spherical face 12 of the outer ring 10 and the outer spherical face 22 of the inner ring 20 for holding the torque transmitting balls 28, and the stem 40 having a cylindrical portion 42 fitted to an opening 16 on the counter mouth side of the outer ring 10 and an end face 46 extending from the cylindrical portion 42 to the radial outside and perpendicular to the axis.
