A magnetic resonance imaging system comprises: a high-frequency magnetic field generation section (8T) for generating a high-frequency magnetic field for an examinee placed in a magnetostatic field; an inclination magnetic field generation section (4) for generating an inclination magnetic field to be superposed on the magnetostatic field; and a sequencer (5) for controlling the high-frequency magnetic field generation section and the inclination magnetic field generation section so that MR data concerning a plane passing through an axis substantially aligned with the axis of body of the examinee is collected within a specified period of heart beat of the examinee, and that the plane turns about the axis substantially aligned with the axis of body at each heart beat.
