PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of a malfunction in construction, such that a screed mark is put on a construction surface or unevenness occurs thereon, in the stop operation or starting operation of the paving equipment. SOLUTION: This screed holding mechanism is equipped with a speed detecting means 17 for detecting a construction speed of the paving equipment 1, and an assist pressure adjusting means 18 which adjusts assist pressure so that the assist pressure can be increased/decreased depending on an increase/decrease in the construction speed detected by means 17, and which applies pressure oil under the adjusted assist pressure to the sides of rods 8a and 9a of lift cylinders 8 and 9.
