PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical seal with a drive pin having stable function of preventing the rotation of a stationary sealing ring and using a contamination preventive plastic material as a structural material. SOLUTION: The mechanical seal 4 comprises a rotary sealing ring 8 fixed to a rotating shaft body 2 and the stationary sealing ring 9 held on a cylindrical case body 1 movably in the axial direction. With the relative rotation of opposed end faces 21, 27 of both sealing rings 8, 9, inner and outer periphery regions 5, 18 of relatively rotating portions are sealed to each other. The drive pin 24a engaging with a recessed portion 23 formed in the outer periphery of the stationary sealing ring 9 is fixed and supported onto the case body 1 on both sides of a portion engaging with the recessed portion 23 to prevent the rotation of the stationary sealing ring 9 relative to the case body 1.
