<p>A system and method of removing material from a blood flow lumen includes a device having a cutting element which is used to sever material from a blood flow lumen. The device may include a containment chamber which receives the material passing through a first opening in the device. The device may also having a second opening which is selectively closed or opened by the user and through which the material is removed from the device.</p>
