<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method and image forming apparatus, by which unsatisfactory image quality due to insufficient toner is prevented even when images having heavy duty in high print proportion are continuously formed in an image forming apparatus such as a laser printer or a facsimile. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus detects the toner concentration of developer containing toner and carrier, and compares it with a toner density reference value recorded in advance, thereby controlling the supply of the toner to a developing mechanism. In the image forming apparatus, the number of times wherein image formation is performed within a prescribed time is counted each time the prescribed time elapses, and it is compared with an image formation count reference value recorded in advance. When it is judged that the counted number of times wherein image formation is carried out exceeds the image formation count reference value, the toner concentration reference value is corrected to increase the amount of toner to be supplied. When it is judged that the number of times wherein image formation is carried out is below the image formation count reference value, the toner concentration reference value is corrected to decrease the amount of toner to be supplied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
