<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which good transfer is achieved regardless of the surface roughness of a transfer material, so that occurrence of an abnormal image can be prevented. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus in which a toner image formed on an image bearing member 3 is transferred onto an intermediate transfer member and the toner image formed on the intermediate transfer member is transferred onto a transfer material, the intermediate transfer member comprises an intermediate transfer belt 21 and a secondary transfer section 19 for secondary transfer of the toner image on the intermediate transfer belt 21 onto the transfer material. The secondary transfer section 19 comprises a supporting portion (counter roller) 20 provided on the intermediate transfer belt 21 side and a supporting portion (transfer roller) 22 provided on the transfer material side, and a plurality of rollers different from each other in surface hardness are provided as at least one of the counter roller 20 and the transfer roller 22 so that the surface hardness of the roller can be changed over. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
