<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method and apparatus in which efficient transmission can be performed over a network having a ring topology, and corresponding network. <P>SOLUTION: A connection error between two subscriber stations of the network is detected by monitoring carrier signals. After the connection error is identified, the first subscriber station transfers data from its own output interface connected to an input interface of the second subscriber station to its own input interface where the connection error to the output interface of the second subscriber station occurs.
