<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an editing system for grasping, in advance, conflicts among editing progressed simultaneously as well as for updating master data in an optional unit. <P>SOLUTION: In the system, a user acquires a part of the master data as a document before editing 10 from a master DB1 to create an after editing document 20 by editing the document 10. A server 30 detects difference information on the basis of the documents 10 and 20. The server 30 then stores a history of editing performed by the user as an editing history consisting of a plurality of records into an editing history DB4 on the basis of the detected difference information. The server 30 further determines whether or not conflicting editing is present for each record on the basis of a status indicating an editing state. In the event of presence of the competitive editing, the server 30 sets the status again.
