PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately control a change gear ratio by surely correcting step-out of a step motor. SOLUTION: In this gear shift control device for a toroidal type continuously variable transmission comprising a mechanical feedback mechanism and a feedback compensating means, the relationship between a command valueθc to the step motor and a driving positionθi<SB>PR</SB>of a gear shift actuator is corrected when an actual change gear ratio i<SB>PR</SB>is less than a prescribed value i<SB>HI</SB>at a predetermined most Hi side.
