PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder in which a suction cap and a recording head can be prevented from sticking during physical distribution without requiring various mechanisms or works. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder 2 comprises a carriage 3 performing reciprocal scanning of a recording medium while mounting an ink jet recording head 1 for ejecting liquid drops from ejection openings (not shown) formed in the ink ejection surface wherein the carriage 3 is packed up by a packing material 4 while mounting the ink jet recording head 1 during physical distribution.
