<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a concrete method for the utilization of Asystasia gangetica and a used product by finding the usability of the plant for contributing to health and industry. <P>SOLUTION: The invention provides the use of Asystasia gangetica as an antidiabetic agent, a serum lipid lowering agent and a lactobacillus proliferation promoting agent based on the finding of the antidiabetic action, blood cholesterol suppressing and neutral fat suppressing action, a lactobacillus proliferation promoting action and a food taste and flavor improving effect of a water extract of the leaf of Asystasia gangetica, the use of the plant as a food or animal feed, a method for drying the leaf of Asystasia gangetica, a dried material produced by the method, the use of the dried product to foods and the application to the production of a fermented food using the extract of Asystasia gangetica. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
