<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the device constitution of an image forming apparatus compact. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a main body unit 2 which performs image formation. A paper feed unit 3 which is provided below the main body unit 2 and supplies transfer paper 5 to the main body unit 2 can be fitted to the apparatus. Then the apparatus is equipped with guide covers 7a and 7b which can freely be opened and closed. The guide cover 7a is opened and then the paper feed unit 3 conveying the transfer paper 5 or surfaces of conveyance paths 6a and 6b of the main body unit 2 are exposed to an operation side.
