<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the convenience of an image reader when a trouble occurs in a paper discharge path or a separating part in the image reader in which in the case of one-sided image, the (N+1)th document is reversed and superposed on the N-th document to read the images of two sheets at the same time. <P>SOLUTION: This image reader includes: one or two document separating means; and two image reading means disposed on opposite surfaces, wherein the reversed (N+1)th document is superposed on the N-th document to read an image. The image reader includes two discharge paths, wherein the (N+1)th document is again reversed in one discharge path to prevent the document from being discharged with the wrong side up. When abnormality occurs in one of two discharge paths during operation, the documents staying in the reader are all discharged by the other transport path. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
