PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auto tensioner having high strength for caulking to fix a pressing plate and capable of maintaining a damping mechanism by a friction plate stably. SOLUTION: This auto tensioner is constituted by forming a locking stop part 1x having a corrugated-shaped outer fringe shape in the peripheral direction at a tip of a supporting shaft part 1a of a supporting member, fitting the ring-like pressing plate 6 formed into a shape of an inner fringe 6x substantially along a corrugated shape by blanking a plate member into the locking stop part 1x, and fixing the pressing plate 6 to the supporting shaft part 1a by caulking the locking stop part 1x and swelling it in the radial direction. The pressing plate 6 is fitted by bringing an end face 6b on the downstream side in the direction of machining of blanking machining into contact with an end face 1y of the locking stop part 1x at the tip of the supporting shaft part 1a.
