PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve I/O performance by shortening a data read-out time (data transfer time) of a magnetic disk device using a perpendicular magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk is rotated by applying a magnetic field of a vertical direction to a whole surface of the magnetic disk and a magnetic head is loaded to the magnetic head, a signal is reproduced from the magnetic disk, the reproduced signal is processed by a waveform analyzer, pulse waveform of 0.9 times of servo bit length or more are counted in a threshold value of 1/2 of an average output, deficit density on the magnetic disk which affects on I/O performance of the magnetic disk apparatus is measured, and it is suppressed to the prescribed deficit density or less on the magnetic disk based on the prescribed grinding condition.
