摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image compression equipment and its method wherein, when information corresponding to complexity of a screen is obtained from an image processing part in a camera module to compress a complicated image, data can be further allocated. <P>SOLUTION: The image compression equipment contains an image sensor for converting an optical signal into an electric signal; an ISP which inputs the electric signal from the image sensor and outputs the digitized image data; an automatic focus digital signal processor which integrates the edge component value of a window setting area, calculates a focus value after the image data from the ISP part is input to extract an edge component, and drives a focus lens of a lens part while calculating the maximum focus value for output; and a compression module which inputs the maximum focus value from the automatic focus digital signal processor, and quantizes the image data from the ISP part by use of quantized parameters defined in response to the focus value, while performing an image compression. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p>
