PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly insert an information medium into an insertion port and to prevent fall of the information medium in the case of insertion by loading the information medium on a insertion auxiliary means by a user when the information medium is attached to slot-in system recording and playing back apparatus. SOLUTION: The recording and playing back apparatus has the insertion auxiliary part 107 which assists insertion of a video cassette tape 108 into the insertion port 103 in a video tape recorder system having a main body panel 101, a front panel 102 which covers the front surface of the main body panel 101 and the insertion port 103 into which the tape cassette tape 108 formed on the front panel 102 is inserted. Since the video cassette tape 108 is once loaded on the insertion auxiliary part 107 and after that, the video cassette tape 108 is pushed in the direction of the insertion port 103, fall of the video cassette tape 108 is prevented.
