PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink jet recorder performing time sharing drive in which deterioration in image quality due to periodic occurrence of unevenness in density is prevented when gray scale control is performed by unit matrix for at least a partial gray scale, because dot cluster of each unit matrix has a shape different periodically due to inconsistency in relation between the unit matrix size and the time sharing drive unit section size. SOLUTION: Image data is shifted depending on the time sharing drive unit section or ink ejection timing period of a recording head is shifted so that each dot cluster has an identical shape.
