1,128,651. Anti-stick coating. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 2 May, 1966 [11 May, 1965], No. 19830/65. Heading B2K. [Also in Division C3] Surfaces of wood, metal, glass, enamel are treated to confer on them water-repellency or anti-stick properties by applying in the presence of up to 1% acid, a liquid organosilicon compound containing at least one #Si-H group and at least three #SiOR groups per molecule where R is a monovalent hydrocarbon radical or a hydrocarbonoxy radical, allowing the surface to dry and thereafter applying thereto a linear organopolysiloxane containing at least one silicon-bonded hydroxyl group. The organosilicon compound may be a silane, siloxane e.g. triethoxy-silane, tri-isobutoxysilane, tris- (#-ethoxy-thoxy) silane, 1, 1, 3, 3-tetraethoxydisiloxane, triethoxysilane. The acid may be acetic, hydrochloric acid. The linear organopolysiloxanes may have one or more hydroxyl groups preferably at the ends of the chain. Other non-linear organopolysiloxanes, and catalysts may also be incorporated. The organosilicon compound and organopolysiloxane may be applied by brushing, spraying, dipping or wiping with a pad. The surface treated' may be that of a cooking utensil. In the Examples the surface of an aluminium pan is cleaned, dried and then treated.
|
