发明名称 Radiation treatment to render polyesters susceptible to permanent retention of dyes
摘要
1,129,424. Grafted polyesters. ATOMIC ENERGY OF CANADA Ltd. 5 June, 1967 [23 Feb., 1967], No. 25775/67. Heading C3G. [Also in Division D1] The dyeability of polyesters is improved by exposing a polyester in contact with a grafting solution comprising a polymerizable monomer selected from vinyl monomers containing a hydrophilic end group and vinylidene monomers containing a hydrophilic end group in a solvent comprising methanol, ethanol or a mixture thereof, to gamma radiation. The polyester is e.g. polyethylene terephthalate or polycyclohexyl terephthalate. Specified monomers are vinyl and vinylidene amides, amines, chlorides, sulphones and sulphonates and acrylic and methacrylic acids. The monomer mixture may comprise 15-30% by weight of styrene. In the examples, polyethylene terephthalate fabric is soaked in a solution in methanol of methacrylic acid or acrylamide, alone or together with styrene, and then subjected to Co-60 gamma irradiation. The grafted fabrics are dyed.
