PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functional thin film device provided with a functional thin film layer formed in uniform thickness.

SOLUTION: The functional thin film device is provided with a thin film structure formed by laminating at least one layer of thin film layer 131 on a region 101 surrounded by a bank 110 as a partition member. The bank 110 is constituted by alternately laminating compatible bank layers 111, 112 exhibiting a compatibility to a thin film material liquid as liquid phase material of the thin film layer 131 and a noncompatible bank layer 121 exhibiting noncompatibility to the thin film material liquid. The thin film layer 131 is formed by adjusting the thickness so that a flat plane including a boundary between the compatible bank 111 and the noncompatible bank layer 121 laminated thereon becomes the interface.
