PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat type lighting system using a flat type discharge tube durable for external shock and capable of preventing dispersion for neighborhood when the flat type discharge tube is broken and capable of preventing electric shock without a case for covering the flat type discharge tube and a globe. SOLUTION: A transparent electrode 4 at a surface side of the flat type discharge tube 1 and a surface 12b of transparent glass 12 are bonded by transparent adhesive agent 14 of silicon. Lead wires 4a, 5a connected to transparent electrodes 4, 5 are connected to a driving circuit connected to an AC source 8 and the lead wire 5a connected to the driving circuit is branched by a terminal 10 and grounded.
